Avian Influenza: H5N1 Confirmed at Second Premises
Late yesterday it was confirmed that the H5N1 Avian Influenza virus has been found in turkeys culled at one of the previously designated Dangerous Contacts premises on the Norfolk-Suffolk border. More details can be found by clicking here.
As a result, this now becomes the second Infected Premises, and the boundary of the Protection and Surveillance Zones has been extended to reflect this. A map showing the boundaries of the zones is available on the DEFRA website by clicking here
The Trust would like to recommend all poultry breeders to complete the Avian Influenza Questionnaire click here to download . This will help us record the numbers and distribution of our rare and native poultry breeds.
Bio-security advice is found on the questionnaire and we would recommend poultry keepers to follow these key points to help safeguard their flocks.
If you have any queries or wish to receive a postal questionnaire please do not hesitate to contact the RBST on 024 7669 6551.
