GAP Conservation Grazing Conference - Book Now For Farmer Discount
RBST members will automatically qualify for a £25 ‘farmer discount when they book a place on GAP’s national conference at the University of Exeter in September. There is also a day rate of £45 + vat available for the first day of the conference which features a series of presentations and workshops.
The conference will celebrate the role that conservation grazing plays in conserving and restoring the landscape and provides an opportunity for those involved to share their experiences.
Highlights for rare breeds enthusiasts include a field trip to the National Trust’s estate at Wembury Point where Dartmoor ponies are being used to restore this important grassland site, and to Fowlescombe, a mixed organic farm that is owned and managed by RBST members Richard and Barbara Barker.
Also on the programme, a talk by Lawrence Alderson, RBST’s technical advisor, and Rodger Wardle from FWAG, on the vital role of rare and native breeds in conservation grazing.
As well as a range of presentations and four further field trip options, the conference will feature fringe meetings on conservation grazing on nature reserves and the marketing of farm products, commons and pastoralism, and extensive grazing and climate-change. Literally, something for everyone!
The conference is being co-hosted by Devon Wildlife Trust who are handling bookings. To book now and claim your discount, ring 01392 260880 or email gapconference@devonwildlifetrust.org
