New RBST Technical Service For Rare & Native Breeds

RBST have announced a new “hands on” service for RBST members and rare and native breed livestock keepers.

Two Field Officers are being recruited to provide technical and practical advice through demonstrations and workshops. They will also have an important role in liaising with breed societies, agricultural organisations, the RBST Approved Conservation Farm Park network and the RBST Regional Groups. The field officers will be based, one in the north and one in the south of the country.

The move has come following several months consultation with organisations, societies and individuals in the agricultural and native breeds sector, about the future role of RBST. The message has been clear that most would like to see RBST develop a technical service and even closer links with others who are also working to promote and conserve native breeds.
