RBST Replies to Defra on EID

A significant percentage of the UK sheep flock could disappear if EU rules to electronically identify (EID) and individually record sheep are introduced, as planned, on 1 January 2010. RBST believes that EID may endanger the future of the UKs native sheep breeds as evidence suggests that these onerous regulations will have the greatest impact on small flock owners who maintain most of the national populations of ‘at risk‘ breeds of sheep.
