A little bit about me;

My name is Charlotte and I am the new intern here at the Rare Breeds Survival Trust.

I have just finished my second year at the University of East Anglia where I study a Bachelor of Arts in Politics. I want to work for a charity when I graduate, having a particular interest in lobbying but I am still unsure of the exact career I want so this internship is going to be an excellent way to find out what I really enjoy.

Two of my greatest passions are cooking and animals. I’ve spent many years cooking for my family and more recently my house mates at university. I love finding new recipes that I can use to make different cuts of meat more interesting, and I try to eat what is seasonal and local.

As I said before, I adore animals and am fortunate enough to have two family dogs. We have a ten year old Labrador-Collie mix and a one year old purebred Collie, both bitches. I am also fortunate that members of my family in Ireland are farm owners, so I get the opportunity to look after a whole range of animals.

I want to write about my two passions, sharing recipes, restaurants and companies which use and sell meat from our rare breeds. I also want to write about the conservation work of  RBST, the work that the approved farm parks do and ways that we can support the conservation efforts of small farmers.

I’m excited to find new recipes, meet business owners and explore farms all across the country, showcasing conservation efforts throughout the United Kingdom.
