In October 2017 ‘The Woolly Roadshow’ supported by British Wool and the Rare Breeds Survival Trust went on a 7 day tour of England, Scotland and Wales for the duration of UK Wool Week 2017.

At each venue ‘The Woolly Roadshow’ is joined by members of the Rare Breeds Survival Trust, National Sheep Association and BWMB producers. Each day there is a display of native sheep breeds local to that area together with hand-spinning demonstrations. This year Sean, the couple's eldest son, will be joining David on the tour.

The original tour in 2017 was so well received that a second tour is now planned for UK Wool Week 2018.

Britain has been a world leader in the use of wool for centuries and has more breeds of sheep than any other country.

Our wools are used to produce everything from knitwear, fabrics and carpets to spectacle frames, chairs, knife handles, bedding, roof insulation and insulated packaging for the food and pharmaceutical industries.

UK Wool Week is a celebration of the renewable, biodegradable commodity which produced so much of the wealth of our nation.

The Woolly Roadshow was commissioned by David and Karen Griffiths of Griffiths’ Mill in 2015/16 and is an educational promotion of British wool, British sheep and the Rare Breeds Survival Trust. It incorporates an exhibition trailer including a display of woollen yarn, carded fibres, knitwear, woven items and other products made from wool – some of which are for sale. There is also a Land Rover the inside of which is fitted out as a wool bedroom and with an audio video display on the rear nearside of the vehicle showing lambing, shearing and wool processing. The Woolly Roadshow is also supported by the National Sheep Association, British Wool Marketing Board, Lister Shearing, Burgon & Ball, Ty-Mawr Lime, Woolcool, Solidwool, The Woolroom and Rappa.
