RBST host two LANTRA accredited courses; Livestock Checkers and Conservation Grazing in Practice.
Both GAP training courses are accredited by LANTRA Awards and delegates will receive a certificate by post after successful completion of the course. The certification is included in the course cost. All trainers used by GAP are also accredited by LANTRA. A detailed workbook will be provided for extra notes and a USB stick which includes Welfare codes, factsheets, Contacts and additional information.
Livestock Checkers - 1 day course, for group bookings of 10 - 15 attendees.
This course provides a basic introduction to stock checking in the conservation/land-based sector. Ideal for beginners, volunteers or anyone with limited experience of livestock. The course covers animal health and welfare, the key legislation, the role and responsibilities of a stock checker and how to safely and effectively check livestock. There is a minimum age requirement of 14 years to attend GAP courses.
Conservation Grazing in Practice - 2 day course = £325+vat (includes refreshments and lunch both days, unless otherwise stated but does not include accommodation)
This course provides a basic introduction to extensive/conservation grazing and the use of livestock to achieve environmental objectives. The course covers grazing and grazing systems, animal health, welfare and behaviour, the key legislation, the role and responsibilities of a keeper, health & safety and risk assessments and how to safely and effectively carry out livestock handling techniques.
Note: GAP courses will involve indoor and outdoor learning with some physical activity, such as stock handling and walking with close proximity to livestock.
