Privacy Policy

The Rare Breeds Survival Trust is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy describes how RBST collects and uses information about people who visit our website. If you have any queries about how RBST uses your information or this privacy policy, please contact the Data Protection Officer, RBST, Stoneleigh Park, Kenilworth, Warwickshire, CV8 2LG or email: enquiries@rbst.org.uk.

How do we collect information?

We obtain personal information about you when you make an enquiry, join us as a member or volunteer, register for our email newsletter, make a donation to us or use the Stock Exchange. We may also receive information about you from our supporters when they are fundraising for us or when you buy semen from the RBST Conservation Breeding stocks.

What information do we collect?

Information collected may include: name, date of birth, postal address, email address, telephone number and credit/debit card details. We also collect general information about the use of our website, such as which are the most popular pages or items, where website visitors come from and how long they spend on our site.

Security

PayPal automatically encrypts your confidential information in transit from your computer to Paypal's using the Secure Sockets Layer protocol (SSL) with an encryption key length of 128-bits (the highest level commercially available). Before you even register or log in to the PayPal site, their server checks that you're using an approved browser - one that uses SSL 3.0 or higher. Once your information reaches the PayPal site, it resides on a server that is heavily guarded both physically and electronically. PayPal servers sit behind an electronic firewall and are not directly connected to the internet, so your private information is available only to authorized computers.

All of our online forms are protected by encryption. However, no data transmission over the internet is 100% secure. As a result, while we try to protect your personal information, Rare Breeds Survival Trust cannot guarantee the security of any information you transmit to us and you do so at your own risk.

Rare Breeds Survival Trust takes appropriate measures to ensure that your personal information is kept secure, accurate, up to date and kept only for as long as is necessary for the purposes for which it is collected.

How do we use your information?

We will use your personal details to provide you with the information, goods or services you have requested from us; to create your membership or contact record; to manage our payment processes and to carry out our charitable activities, including fundraising for this purpose.

We may analyse the information we collect to create a profile containing which species of livestock you may keep, hobbies, fundraising interests and mailing preferences so that we can contact you with relevant information.

We may need to share your information with our service providers for the purposes described above. We will also share your details with your local RBST Support Group, which may contact you to make you aware of local activities.
